What This Position is All About

Reporting to the Manager of International Compliance, the Customs Compliance Coordinator will ensure SFA is in compliance with US and Canada Customs laws and regulations. Responsible for  maintaining daily import/export compliance operations, including creating the commercial invoice, shipment coordination, vendor invoice validation, auditing, researching, and serving as a liaison to customs brokers, suppliers,buying teams, operations and DC management. This position will interface with the following groups (not all inclusive): finance, merchant teams, freight forwarders, United States Customs officials, CBSA, customs brokers, suppliers, distribution centers, and internal/external customers on all matters pertaining to customs and import/export regulations.

    You Also Have:
  • Experience with customs compliance, US and Canada preferred.
  • Knowledge of HTS classification, ACE reporting, Duty drawbacks and US and Canada Customs entry process.
  • Analytical with strong attention to detail and a sense of urgency.Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships across the organization, third party service providers, and Customs officials.

As The Coordinator, Customs Compliance, You Will:

  • Ensure all import and export transactions are completed in a timely manner and within applicable government rules and regulations
  • Adhere to  product regulatory compliance with the governing regulatory agencies.Assist the Manager of International Compliance in building a sustainable import and export compliance program for SFA.
  • Analyze and collect data from internal and external partners to support polices and functions, including Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification, Country of Origin (COO), Valuation, Free Trade Agreements (FTA), Partner Government Agency (PGA) Admissibility, Duty Drawbacks, Export Controls and classification, Restricted Party Screening, and Sanctions.
  • Maintain Fish and Wildlife data, providing updates to brokerage and third-party service providers.
  • Facilitate customs brokerage partner performance and KPIs.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to facilitate the movement of orders, including, commercial invoice generation, denied party screening, filing of electronic export information, shipping, tracking, and communicating clearance updates.
  • Manage trade compliance issues as necessary, connecting resources to find solutions, and documenting resolutions and remediation plans.
  • Maintain accurate data and record keeping.Maintain current knowledge of laws, regulations and industry guidance that impact the company’s trade compliance program.
  • Assist with the annual Reconciliation program and filing.Manage new supplier onboarding documentation, communication, and follow up.
  • Perform Restricted and Sanctioned Party List (SPL) screening.Assist with Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualification and issuance.
  • Ongoing monitoring and evaluation of legislative changes that affect imports and exports.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The starting salary for this position is between $50,000 - $55,000 annually.  Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include market, skills, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
