Day In The Life:

The  Senior Manager, Digital Engineering is accountable for multiple projects and works to identify and support the growth of needed capabilities for successful delivery – be they app development, data integration, test automation, etc.

The Manager’s primary goal is to lead team members and facilitate their work while feeding a culture that emphasizes customer experience, quality engineering, and innovation in a global delivery setting.

What You Will Do:

·       Design and develop world-class software applications to bring industry-leading shopping experiences to market

·       Ensure software architecture aligns with user needs to bring high-value products to market

·       Enable predictable and iterative software delivery by providing leadership in an Agile team environment

·       Bring  expertise in investigation and resolution of technical problems within the organization

·       Maintain awareness of industry trends and evaluate the applicability of new software technologies for ensuring the best possible consumer experience

·       Drive innovation at a software product level and contribute ideas to the product roadmap

·       Mentor junior managers and emerging leaders

·       Build a culture of pride and ownership over code quality, scalable architecture, security, and data privacy

·       Forward plan the release windows and cycles across a portfolio

·       Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality

·       Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations 

·       Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes

·       Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations

·       Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews

·       Produce Deployment, Run Books and Implementation Plans 

·       Be responsible for weekly release reporting

·       Communicate release details and schedules to the Business as required

·       Negotiate, plan and manage all release activities 

·       Work with release engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges

·       Maintain the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors. 

·       Continually work towards making improvements in the release process

·       Lead and co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists. 

·       Develop scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms 

·       Participate in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks

·       Maintain a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists

What You Will Need:

·       7+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on hands-on systems architecture, interoperability, and data integrity.

·       3+ years leading teams of engineers

·       Relevant experience in optimizing data flows between multiple systems, architecting data integrity, single source of truth, and providing the right digital solution for internal stakeholders

·       Deep hands-on technical and architectural experience with current ability to write significant code, build systems from scratch, and maintain or re-architect legacy in-house built systems

·       Deep understanding and experience with many of the following technologies:

·       Server-side programming:  NodeJS / ReactJS / Javascript / Scala / Java

·       AWS products and architecture

·       Automated testing frameworks and TDD

·       CI / CD pipelines

·       CircleCI / Jenkins / GoCD

·       Docker / Kubernetes

·       NewRelic / DataDog / Splunk

·       Consummate collaborator that seeks to find optimal trade-offs, and provide confidence in myriad stakeholders to whom your team will provide solutions

·       Data-driven, analytical, strong communicator, who understands and relishes in the big picture, but understands the importance of every detail

·       An exceptional leader with an ownership mentality

·       Steeped in understanding and practice of agile software development

·       Natural problem solver who understands how to start from the why, and uses first principles to get to a meaningful what and how
