What This Position is All About:  

The role optimizes labour resources based on business analytics. This position is responsible to partner with Store  Leadership and the Manager, Workforce Planning to produce store schedules for all associates, provide guidance in store’s usage of labour, payroll budgets, reporting and store staffing profiles related queries.

Demonstrates ease in flexing all communication styles in order to build & maintain relationships. Strong time management and organizational skills, demonstrating strong ability to identify and prioritize all task in a timely manner.

 

Able to analyze short and long term opportunities, provide possible paths to solutions by using technical and decision making skills based on the needs or the specific stores; their labour profile, their productivity, their sales trends and the dynamics of their physical store layout.

You must have:  

 

  • 3+ years retail industry experience (in store experience preferred)  
  • Experience utilizing Workforce Management tools desirable (Infor WFM preferred)
  • Knowledge of concepts and procedures associated with workforce planning
  • Established understanding of payroll processes  
  • Strong understanding of Canadian labour legislation and employment standards
  • Competent experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Google Business suite, Scheduling programs) and familiarity with web-based software preferred.
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative and be a self-starter, solution seeker and provider  
  • Ability to maintain personal workflow and meet deadlines  
  • Display a capacity to learn quickly and respond well to changes and opportunities  
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills 
  • French Canadian bilingual a strong asset  
  • Able to work independently, while supporting Canada’s timezones - MST timezone at minimum

 

As Workforce Analyst, you will be responsible for:  

 

Schedule Production  

  • Responsible for staff scheduling to include: dynamic scheduling, shift rotations, Personal Time Off (PTO), breaks, etc.  
  • Allocates and maintains an adequate staffing schedule/pattern to assure coverage meets daily customer needs as a based template provided to the stores
  • Monitor schedules, collaborate with GMs, AGMs, AMs to optimize production, reduce manual workload on a consistent basis
  • Ensure production meets all guidelines required (all provincial laws adhered to)
  • Reviews, corrects all schedules prior to publication to associates, teach/train management on opportunities
  • Provide scheduled and ad hoc training as identified/required by the business  

 

 

Planning - all areas of the store  

  • Collaborate with GMs/AGMs/AMs to manage store labour hours on a daily, weekly, monthly basis
  • Oversee the management of store profiles, across all scheduling zones
  • Hours payback management, give direction to stores that are in payback position to positively impact your store’s P&L
  • Provide guidance on back of house workload levers to assist with the accurate forecasting  non-sales related hours required
  • Guide the stores on hours allocation and usage pertaining to adhoc non selling tasks
  • Provide prompt decisions to the business (approval requests, Sick calls, Vacation requests)
  • On a bi-annual basis, conduct WorkForce Management Store Maintenance in collaboration with designated store’s leadership to make scheduling and system adjustments that enable the store to be successful in the season ahead

 

Store Support  

Provide support to Store Leadership as required:

  • People Experience (PX)  guidance on associate information, Benefit entitlements, Time & Attendance support, Pay opportunities, HBC PX Policies and Provincial Labour Laws requirements (OT, violations etc)
  • Payroll usage analysis by scheduling zone in designated stores to optimize labour allocation and maintain payroll budgets
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis as directed by Director, Workforce Management
  • Takes responsive action and communication with Workforce Management team, Regional Field Leadership and general enquiries from cross functional teams
  • Provide weekend store scheduling support on a rotational basis.
