Reporting Relationships: The
Manager, Merchandise Operations will directly report to the Director,
Merchandise Operations.
Major Responsibilities
The Manager, Merchandise Operations is primarily responsible for being the first point of contact with North American Leads. They will also be accountable for managing the initial stages of training and transition of MO Leads offshore and then continue to be the strategic and functional manager for the MO team. They will oversee the performance and development of the Merchandise Operations team as well as manage the tactical functions of the team. The Manager Merchandise Operations partners with the Buying Team to measure demand (e.g., for purchase order entry, item set-ups, and price changes), and dispatches Merchandise Administrators to that work in a balanced way. The Manager MO also oversees quality control for off-shore work and helps Merchandise Administrators problem solve on issues/flag issues appropriately to the on-shore Buying Team as needed
- Primary point of contact between onshore and offshore MO team leads
- As as senior advisor to the MO Leads for day to day functioning of the team including training and performance management
- Communicate with buying offices to measure demand for Merchandise Administrators' work (e.g., number of orders, number of items to be set-up, amount of price changes, etc.)
- Dispatch and balance demand coming in from on-shore Buying Team amongst Merchandise Administrators
- As issues arise, help Merchandise Administrators as well as MO leads problem solve issues and flag as appropriate to on-shore team
- Conduct semi-annual performance reviews
- Train, motivate and develop team to ensure effective performance and growth
- Oversee implementation of new systems, process upgrades, etc. as needed

The
successful candidate must be a proactive self-starter with a dynamic and
resilient nature able to work and lead in a fast-paced. He/she will possess
average communication and interpersonal skills in order to engage with
stakeholders across the business and provide critical input to business teams.
This individual will have a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
simultaneously with strict adherence to deadlines and routine problem solving
and willingness to learn.
Professional Qualifications
- Minimum 6 to 10 years of total experience
- Relevant experience of 3 to 4 years preferably in a Retail environment
- Minimum 2 years’ experience managing and coordinating large teams
- Strong computer skills including MS Word and Excel
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Sense of urgency, flexibility and ability to multi-task would be desirable traits
- Detail oriented with good organizational and clerical skills
Educational Credentials
University
or college degree or commensurate retail experience
